General medical exams should be carried out by a general practitioner on a semi-annual or quarterly basis for general health and preventative screening, or to monitor and adjust treatments chronic diseases. These exams ordinarily involve obtaining your medical history as well as performing a physical examination and sometimes include further laboratory tests.
